  The Voice Of Nicaragua

  In the list of folks I sent the Nicaragua story to, was a Nicaraguan friend.  I’ve eaten a meal in her home.  My friend was a collage teacher and also a writer.  Her dad is a collage professor and her mother's a teacher.  Even though they are all professionals, life is hard.  Marjorie picked up on the political situation I wrote about and responded with the letter below in her broken English.

  I read all this document until the end... (My story of Nicaragua - see post below) The real truth is that communism only exists in books... And they tell you that Food and wealth should go to the poorest. The question is who is poor, and who is not..... And who is given the money to....

  Right now, I feel poor because I live in Managua and see people laying on the floor waiting for death. I feel poor because, like them. I don`t have a job to help with money, and nor a future ahead... despite my diplomas and knowdlege, Those are not usefull... Not anymore.

   

  We see the ads of Daniel Ortega all around.... In the past...Sandinistas were against a system, a dictator... Anastacio Somoza D'bayle.... A president that had an army and killed young people because they were walking in the street and according to his ill mind, youth represented danger....

   

   I understand the ideas of Sandino....The name from were sandinistas come from.

   

   Sandino was not communist, was liberal.... He was assessinated because he fought against Somoza (The dictator or Hittler from Nicaragua)....

   

  Sandino leaded an army of malnourish people from Matagalpa and Jinotega, etc., who wanted see Nicaragua free....

   

  But, in few years Somoza killed Sandino.... but Sandino let followers.

   

   The followers of Sandino today are not the same from the past... In the past there were millions of followers..... Today.... they seem to be followers because of the benefits.

   

  "Government"...  don`t understand that people have changed... that the world is working in a different way....

   

  "Government"...   have feelings of war in their minds... And, Who are they????...Who is government:Two people... The president and his wife... and the rest.... people who follow them... waiting for a reward....while tell them they were in war, in revolution and have status, medals ... and so on to be in charge of ministries or offices in the "Goverment"...   

   

   ... and the poverty is still the same.... The only change is that we have new rich people.. The new government followers....

   

  Nicaragua today has not president... We are walking by ourselves... We see Daniel Ortega face on huge ads... but who cares????? We are sombies in a city of hunger, corruption and murder.....

   

  There are good programs : Houses for poor people, water for poor people, streets for poor people.... But who is the poor people.... They don`t really know... They send money to leaders in rural areas and leaders select their poor people... Those who say: I love Daniel "el presidente del pueblo" ....

   

   And the people who really needs help like in New Jerusalem will be in the darkness forever...

   

  But, maybe these poor that you see in New Jerusalem are the  richest one in our country, because they still cry... listening the word of Jesus....

   

  People from Managua.... like me and friends.... We don`t cry anymore.... our tears have gotten dry.....We have lost strenghts.... because without food you can not think.... but there may be a light at the end of the tunnel..???? Maybe...

   

  Thanks for coming to Nicaragua.... Don`t give up, please.... people need you more than ever.... and me.... as your friend... I ask you for prayers..... a lot of them.... to continue fighting... In this terrible world I was born....but my real world.
